When you book with me, we'll schedule a vision appointment. This can be virtual or in person!
We'll talk about your dreams for your session, discuss and choose a location, explore the client closet, and style you and your family.
We'll also chat about how you want to display your images after your session.
Whether that is wall art, prints, and/or albums, knowing the end goal for your session helps me tailor this time to you and your family’s unique needs.
On the day of your session, we'll meet at the location and spend about an hour photographing you and your family!
If you’ve added on hair and makeup, my artist will come take care of you before your session.
We'll start the session with a couple of standard shots of everyone looking at the camera and smiling.
Then, we’ll move to poses and prompts that let you focus on your babies and enjoy their sweet smiles and snuggles. You can just relax, and enjoy!
After your session, we'll meet up again either in person or virtually.
We'll go over your images together and I’ll design custom wall art and albums that will look beautiful in your home.
You’ll also have the option to purchase standard prints and photo boxes.
Once you’ve chosen your favorites and are happy with your selections, I’ll order your products for you.
Approximately 4-6 weeks after your place your order, your physical products will arrive!
I’m happy to come install wall art for you if you’d like.
You will get a digital copy of every printed image you order which will be available within 1-3 days of your ordering appointment!

After becoming a mother myself, I realized I could serve my clients better than just showing up, taking photos, editing, and sending off a gallery of digital images.
When you have a family, you get very busy and preserving these precious memories is surprisingly time sensitive. You don’t always have time to figure out exactly what you want out of a session without help. And even if you do figure out what you want your session to look like, you may find yourself stumped on where to print photos and which photos to print and how to arrange them.

This is where I come in.

I’ll walk with you from start to finish. We’ll chat about what you like and design a session experience that is as unique as your sweet family. I’ll help you style yourself and the rest of your family. We’ll choose the perfect location and discuss how you want to display your photos.
After your session, we’ll have a design appointment where you can order custom artwork, albums, and prints to display in your home. The last thing we want is for your photos to disappear on a hard drive somewhere.
If you’re taking the time and energy to invest in professional photography, you deserve to have your photos displayed where you can see and enjoy them every single day!

At Wood Shutter Photography, the session fee is $99. Heirloom albums, custom framing, and digital image files are purchased separately after your session. Most mamas invest $500-$2500 at their design and ordering appointments. Payment plans are available.

What if I just want digital files?If you are only interested in digital files, I do offer digital only packages you can choose from.

When should we book?I generally book a few months in advance so you aren't rushed in preparing for your session, but I'm always happy to work you in on a more last minute basis if needed! I recommend doing maternity portraits around 28-32 weeks, but as long as you're still pregnant, it's not too late for a session. I recommend doing newborn portraits around 5-14 days after birth. However, if you're already past that, we can still do a session. I'm always happy to tentatively schedule a date and then adjust for when your baby actually arrives!

What should I expect during my session?My sessions are very laid back. We have plenty of time to get good photos so you don't need to feel rushed. For maternity sessions, we'll do some photos with just you and some with you and your husband. I'll walk you through posing and give you guys some fun prompts to get natural smiles! For newborn sessions, we'll take it slow. I allocate extra time so you can feed or change your newborn in the middle of the session if you need to. This session will be a lot of snuggles and sweet interactions. We usually work by a window in the nursery, living room, and/or master bedroom. For sessions with young kids, I don't try to force things and I work with what kids are giving me. The best thing you can do is just relax and be present and playful with your kiddos during the session! Don't stress about looking at the camera the whole time. I'll be sure we have a few where everyone is looking.

What time of day is best for sessions?Outdoor sessions are scheduled about an hour before sunset for the softest and best natural light. Indoor locations are a lot more flexible on the time frame. I find the best light is generally when the sun is high in the sky - somewhere between 10am and 2pm depending on the time of year. This is a lot easier to work around baby's sleep schedule!

What if it rains?I will reschedule for rain. Due to the unpredictability of East Tennessee weather, I generally wait to reschedule until the day of the session.

What is your pet policy?As long as your animal is not aggressive, they are welcome to be included in your portraits!

How does hair and makeup work?If you choose to add on professional hair and makeup, I'll send one of my pre-vetted hair and makeup artist to you before your session. She'll take care of everything, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy!

How much do clients typically invest?The signature session fee is $99. Artwork and digital files are purchased separately. Most mamas invest $500-$2500 at each ordering appointment on custom artwork and digital files. I love to provide a full-service experience so you have stunning custom artwork in your home without missing out on a second with your babies!

Do you offer payment plans?I completely understand that professional photography can be a big investment. I do offer custom in house payment plans to work with your budget. Product orders will be placed once you are paid in full.

How do I book or ask questions?Slide over to the inquiry page and fill it out. Once you've filled it out, I'll reach out to schedule a call. During this call, you can ask all your questions and we'll go over all the details of working together to be sure this is a good fit for you. Once you're ready to book, I'll send a contract and invoice to secure your date.
WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR YOUR PORTRAITS?
Printed photos are near and dear to my heart. I would rather have 5 incredible photos from a session on the walls of my home than 200+ digital images just sitting on a hard drive somewhere.
